Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty was created by a French sculptor named Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi. The material he chose was hammered copper due to its ease of use in his craft. Ironically, the steel framework was created by the same man who designed the Eiffel Tower – Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel. Once the statue was completed, the French government gifted it to the United States and it was dedicated to President Grover Cleveland in 1886. She has stood watch in the New York Harbor ever since as generation after generation of immigrants came here chasing the American Dream. Pay tribute to our great nation or even to New York City itself with this powerfully symbolic Statue of Liberty wood carving!
