There’s something about skulls that’s just absolutely badass. Popular among bikers and those with a morbid sense of fascination, skulls always seem to be a proper companion in any aspect or format. In terms of originality, pirates were the first to use a skull or skull and crossbones as a symbol of themselves in the form of a flag atop their ships. The first recorded use was in the late 1600’s by a French pirate captain named Emmanuel Wynne, but as time went on each pirate customized the look to fit their own liking. Certain fraternities and secret societies have also used skulls since their inceptions!
