“They bid me to take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla…where the brave shall live forever!”. In Nordic and Viking culture, death in combat was the only surefire way to go to Valhalla, the great hall in the sky where heroes drank, hunted, and fought until the end of days. In their culture, corpses could often reanimate after death for a variety of reasons. These dark creatures were referred to as draugr or, “again-walker” and would either seek out the vengeance for wrongdoing or guard some form of treasure or sacred place.
