Bison Coat of Arms
Those who favor animals that once roamed the plains of North America are sorely disappointed to know that bison are considered ecologically extinct in the modern era. They can only be seen in a few national parks and very small wildlife refugee conservations. The native Americans are said to have had over 150 uses for bison parts. In addition to being a vital food source, the bison also provided hides that could be turned into shelter or clothing, and the skeletal structure could be turned into tools or weapons, especially the horns. The bison’s bladder could even be used to store water. This display features that magnificent animal right where it should be – center stage.
