Warrior on Horse
In terms of horseback riding and combat, the Europeans were already well experienced in that aspect by the time the colonies were being established in the United States. However, the Comanche are considered to be the first Native American tribe to acquire, train, and utilize horses in combat and everyday life. They were a fearsome enemy to face in battle, and when they began acquiring firearms they became even more deadly. Some historians believe that if the native Americans were larger in number and joined forces, the frontier could have taken much longer to explore and develop!
